Large-scale Russian Assaults Cut Electricity Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while inhabitants in eastern districts were left without electricity and faced disruption to drinking water, per reports from municipal leaders.

At the same time, a young boy was lost their life in a separate assault in the southeastern region in the southern area, as reported by regional authorities.

Moscow has escalated strikes on power infrastructure over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "concrete actions" from international partners to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the United States, European nations and the G7 - in providing protection systems and enforcing sanctions," mentioned in a online statement.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and more than 30 rockets struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were working to fix the damage.

A series of attacks damaged energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in the capital.

Several of the people injured in the strikes on the city have been taken to hospital, according to local officials.

Area administrators said the urban area endured significant strikes during nighttime hours. A minor was killed and multiple civilians were injured.

The assaults come after periods of aerial attacks in the area, portions of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is under warning for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are harder to identify.

National leaders told the media that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the country's energy grid, with attacks already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated utility staff and authorities were anticipating further attacks.
